MX5 ME442 Plug-In ECU Engine Management System (2-Plug) (1989–1995)

A Motorsport Electronics ME442 MX5 Plug-In ECU engine management system for the Mazda MX5 NA (1989–1995).

This easy-to-install Plug-In ECU with an integrated lambda sensor replaces the original circuit board inside the housing of the Mazda MX5 NA’s factory ECU using two connectors. Because the ECU fits into the original OEM housing and uses the original connector, this is a discreet and efficient way to upgrade the engine management system.

The system supports both the 1.6L and 1.8L engines with the same hardware. The only additional adjustment required is the included vacuum hose, which must be connected from the ECU to the intake manifold.

Please note that the 1.6L throttle position sensor is an on/off switch; ME recommends replacing it with a variable throttle position sensor for better throttle response. The 1.8L is already equipped with this as standard. Additionally, by installing an intake air temperature sensor, the MAF sensor can be removed.

Please note!

Check whether your stock ECU has 2 or 3 connectors before ordering. The MX5 NA from 1986 through 1995 has 2 connectors.
For 1996 and 1997 MX5 NA models, there are 3 connectors. For this model, you’ll need part number 0805NA05.
