Since the 1980s, BBR has built up experience developing turbo kits for MX-5 engines. With this latest kit, BBR completes its portfolio to cover all generations of Mazda’s iconic sports car.

The key component of the Stage 1 turbo kit is a latest-generation twin-scroll turbocharger. BBR has chosen to machine the turbine wheel from a single block of aluminum and to use a lightweight turbine housing and an internal wastegate. Just like the original Skyactiv engine, the included 4-2-1 exhaust manifold contributes to effective air exchange within the cylinders. Combined with the efficient Mazda Skyactiv engine, this results in an efficient and responsive intake of compressed and forced air.

The new Stage 1 turbo kit boosts the 1.5’s power output to as much as 211 pk—that’s 82 pk more than stock. Equally important, of course, is the smooth power delivery; more than 150 pk is available from 4,000 rpm all the way up to the 7,750 rpm redline. The maximum torque of 267 Nm is reached at 4,150 rpm, which is 117 Nm more than stock! 204 Newton meters of torque is available from 3,000 rpm to just under 7,000 rpm. This enormous range of power and torque greatly improves the performance of the 1.5-liter MX-5, regardless of road or track conditions!

The kit is easy for mechanics to install. A major advantage is that no mechanical or bodywork modifications are required.

The key components of the BBR Stage 1 turbo kit are:
• BBR-exclusive TSX28-67R twin-scroll turbo;
• BBR cast-iron exhaust manifold;
• BBR stainless steel downpipe;
• BBR high-flow lightweight aluminum intercooler, including black intake hoses;
• BBR high-flow black silicone turbo hoses and stainless steel hose clamps with black coating;
• BBR lightweight black aluminum battery tray;
• BBR recirculating dump valve;
• BBR / Bosch intake manifold pressure sensor / temperature sensor;
• BBR carbon fiber turbo heat shield;
• BBR high-flow K&N Typhoon kit (open-air air filter);
• BBR stainless steel oil and coolant lines;
• BBR Starchip EcuTek RaceRom calibration software.

All parts are finished to look factory-original, such as the black hoses and stainless steel clamps with a black coating.

The Mazda MX-5 ND Stage 1 turbo kit costs €9,250.00 including VAT and installation. The kit is tuned for you during installation by qualified engineers.

A do-it-yourself kit, including BBR parts and software, is also available and costs €7,595.00 including VAT.

A battery with different dimensions than the original is required. We’ll replace the battery for you during installation. Unfortunately, the battery cannot be shipped with the do-it-yourself kit.
The kit is available on order and currently has a lead time of five weeks. We’ll need your car for about a week for installation. Of course, you can use a loaner car.
