A grille gives the front of an MX5 NBFL (2001–2005) a different look while also providing protection against stones and other debris that could enter through the opening in the front end. Directly behind it is the radiator, which is cooled by the airflow while driving. A grille thus combines styling with a practical function at the front of the car.
