The steering wheel of an MX5 NBFL (2001–2005) is mounted directly on the steering column and serves as the link between the driver and the steering system. Play or irregularities that can be felt while steering may therefore also originate from the steering system and axle components further down under the car. When installing a different steering wheel, proper fit, centering, and secure mounting are important.
