The underside of an MX5 NBFL (2001–2005) is subjected to a lot of wear and tear from water, dirt, and road debris. Once the protective coating is damaged, rust can slowly spread to seams and adjacent body panels. Therefore, on older cars, be sure to check the rear fender and the joints around the wheel wells for early signs of corrosion.
