The battery in the Mazda MX5 NC (2005 - 2015) supplies the high current needed to start the engine. It also powers the electrical systems through the wiring harness and connectors when the engine is stopped. With the engine running, the alternator supplies electrical power and recharges the battery. The battery tray and mounting keep it secure during braking, cornering and body movement.
