The front number plate holder on the Mazda MX5 NC (2005 - 2015) connects the number plate to the bumper. It supports the plate and keeps it clear of the bumper surface. At the rear, the number plate lamps form part of the lighting system and keep the plate readable after dark. The front holder and rear illumination therefore each serve a separate purpose.
