The engine electronics in the Mazda MX5 NC (2005 - 2015) control fuel injection and ignition using sensor data. The engine control unit processes engine speed, temperature and load, among other readings, to adjust the fuel supply and ignition timing. These settings are continually updated while the engine runs. An incorrect sensor signal can cause starting difficulties, an uneven idle or loss of power.
