MX5 BBR Super 175 1.8L

BBR’s “Super 175” package for your Mazda MX-5 NC (2006–2015) with a 1.8L engine.

This package was specially developed to offer great value for relatively little money. The upgrade provides better throttle response, higher power output, improved handling, and more driving fun. BBR has succeeded in achieving a power increase that was previously impossible with conventional naturally aspirated tuning. Engine power will increase by 39 pk and torque by 22 Nm, which will be noticeable at any RPM. The package is designed for daily use.

The package has been thoroughly refined and has proven itself. It gives the 1.8 MX 5 NC more power than the 2.0 models, without using a turbocharger.

The BBR “Super 175” package for the 1.8 MX-5 NC includes the following components:

BBR GTi has noticed that there are many MX-5 drivers who want more than just an exhaust or software upgrade, but don’t want a turbo or supercharger. This package was developed specifically for those drivers. The 39 pk power increase has been verified on a dyno. The result is a peak power output of 175 pk at 7300 rpm. However, this tells only half the story. The improved power delivery curve is just as important. BBR’s meticulous development has led to exclusive camshaft profiles with unique valve timing specifications. The camshaft profiles, combined with the included exhaust manifold and ECU chip, create a package that delivers significant power gains already above 3,000 rpm. Standard power is increased at every engine speed, resulting in very stable power delivery. This ensures excellent drivability.

BBR has placed great emphasis on increasing torque, resulting in handling characteristics and throttle response that are superior to those of the standard MX-5 NC. The torque of a 1.8 MX-5 NC will increase by 22 Nm to 195 Nm at just 4,750 rpm. This occurs no later than in the standard 1.8 MX-5 NC, demonstrating the smooth performance of the upgrade.

Of course, cost and comfort at high speeds were also taken into account during the development of the kit. That is why this kit uses the stock catalytic converter and exhaust system.

Careful development by BBR has ensured that the package’s emissions remain fully compliant with European regulations, whether using Euro 98 or Euro 95 fuel. All standard safety systems continue to function fully in modified vehicles.
