Brake calipers sit directly around the brake discs on a Mazda MX5 NA (1989 - 1997) and ensure that the brake pads are pressed against the disc during braking. Paint kits are used to protect these calipers from dirt, heat and corrosion and to visually accentuate them. They are applied around the brake system at the wheels of the car.
