Oil pump

The oil pump of a Mazda MX5 NA (1989 - 1997) builds oil pressure and ensures that engine oil is distributed throughout the block. Without sufficient oil pressure, bearings, pistons and other rotating parts receive insufficient lubrication. The oil thus circulated under pressure directly protects the crankshaft and other internal engine parts of the car, where metal-on-metal contact should be precisely avoided.
