Bij het remmen van een Mazda MX5 NA (1989 - 1997) voorkomt het ABS-systeem dat de wielen blokkeren wanneer er hard wordt geremd. Sensoren bij de wielen meten continu de draaisnelheid en sturen deze informatie naar de ABS-regeling die samenwerkt met het remsysteem rond de wielen van de auto om de remdruk automatisch aan te passen. Hierdoor blijft de auto beter bestuurbaar tijdens krachtig remmen.
