The air conditioning system in a Mazda MX-5 NA (1989–1997) is powered by a compressor mounted on the engine and driven by a belt. The system circulates refrigerant through pipes and a condenser to cool the air inside the cabin. When the engine is running, this system works in conjunction with the belts and drive at the front of the car’s engine block, which drive the compressor.
