Shock absorbers and springs

Between wheel and body of an MX5 NB (1998 - 2000), shock absorbers and springs together form the heart of the handling. Springs capture movement and carry the weight of the car, while dampers brake that movement in a controlled manner so that the chassis does not keep swaying or reacting restlessly. After years of use, damping slowly decreases and you often notice that the car feels less tight on uneven surfaces or in rapid direction changes. When the mounting points in wheel suspension and axle components also remain healthy, the chassis remains nicely balanced.
