The ignition system of an MX5 NB (1998 - 2000) determines exactly when to ignite the air-fuel mixture in the cylinders. Via ignition coils, spark plugs, sensors and control from the engine management, a powerful spark is generated at the right time to ensure efficient and controlled combustion. Where heat, vibration and electrical voltage come together, over time the first signs of wear often appear. You can notice this, for example, in less smooth running, irregular idling or an engine that picks up less nicely under load. If the parts that transmit the spark to the spark plugs also remain in good condition, the ignition will continue to function reliably.
