There are hundreds of bolts and nuts in and around the engine block of an MX5 NB (1998 - 2000), each with its own function, length, strength class and tightening torque. They not only hold parts in place, but also ensure that forces, vibrations and temperature differences are absorbed in a controlled manner. Especially in areas where gaskets are clamped together or rotating components are fastened, a wrong bolt can quickly lead to leaks or unwanted play. When working on air filters, radiators, hose sets and other engine components that are regularly disassembled for maintenance, fastening parts often prove more important than previously thought. They may be small parts, but without proper fastening, no system functions as intended.
