On the outside of an MX5 NB (1998 - 2000), the antenna may seem like a simple component, but behind good radio-reception is more technology than is often thought. Through antenna mast, wiring and connections, radio signals are picked up and transmitted to the cabin audio system. On older cars, you often see corrosion, damaged cables or wear and tear in moving parts slowly affect reception. When the audio system cabling and connections are also kept in neat condition, the signal remains as interference-free as possible.
