At the front of the engine block, the alternator of an MX5 NB (1998 - 2000) charges the battery while driving and provides continuous power to electrical systems. A drive belt converts mechanical energy into electrical voltage, allowing lights, ignition, fans and other systems to continue functioning. As bearings, carbon brushes or internal components wear out, charging problems often arise, manifesting as a weak battery or malfunctions in electrical systems. When the battery and associated power connections also remain in good condition, the charging system can continue to operate reliably.
