Located at the front of the engine block, the alternator in an MX5 NB (1998–2000) ensures that the battery is charged while driving and that electrical systems are continuously supplied with power. A drive belt converts mechanical energy into electrical voltage, allowing the lights, ignition, fans, and other systems to continue functioning. As bearings, carbon brushes, or internal components wear out, charging problems often arise, manifesting as a weak battery or malfunctions in electrical systems. As long as the battery and its associated power connections remain in good condition, the charging system can continue to operate reliably.
