The doors of an MX5 NB (1998–2000) are opened and closed dozens of times on every drive. As a result, hinges, locks, door stops, and mounting points are constantly subjected to movement and stress. A door that closes properly not only prevents rattling and wind noise but also ensures that the side window fits snugly against the hood and the body. During maintenance, the window mechanism and the components that guide the side window inside the door therefore often deserve just as much attention as the door itself, because everything together forms a single, smoothly functioning unit.
