The clutch on an MX5 NB (1998–2000) disengages and engages the drive connection between the engine and the transmission. Gaskets and seals around the engine block also require attention, as a leaking rear crankshaft seal can allow oil to reach the clutch. Slippage, vibrations, or a shifting engagement point may indicate wear or contamination of the clutch.
